Research & Monitoring

## Monitoring pontoons for water quality and marine research

A water-quality monitoring pontoon gives instruments a stable, dry platform and gives researchers safe access to service them.

Why Polyethylene

## Made for salt water and working decks

### No antifoul

Nothing leaching into the water around your stock. An annual water blast removes marine growth.

### Cleanable

Smooth rotomoulded surfaces wash down easily between harvests.

### Recyclable

Polyethylene pods are recyclable at end of life. No fuel in the floats, ever.

Aquaculture FAQs

## Questions from aquaculture operators

[All FAQs](https://www.pontoonz.co.nz/faqs/)

### How much will an aquaculture barge carry?

Each Main Boat Pod carries 150kg at half immersion and up to 350kg fully immersed. Size the barge with the calculator and we'll check it before quoting.

### How long do the pods last in salt water?

More than 15 years. Marine-grade UV-stabilised polyethylene, no antifoul needed.

### How do I clean them?

An annual water blast removes marine growth. The smooth surface washes down easily.

### Does a commercial barge need survey?

If it operates commercially it may need survey with Maritime NZ, or AMSA in Australia. We supply pod specifications and load ratings to your surveyor.
