Add up the pump, the frame, the pipework and the people who service it, then size the platform so it sits at about half immersion. **Worked example:** a 26-pod platform carries a 6-tonne pump. Bigger and smaller pumps are sized the same way, and every configuration is checked by Pontoonz before we quote. Where They Work ## Pump supports for dams, rivers, ponds and pits ![Pump pontoon on yellow pods in a fenced treatment pond](https://www.pontoonz.co.nz/_astro/pump-pond.ewXs2ms-_Z113PfB.jpg) ### Irrigation intakes for dams and rivers Floating intakes and pump supports that rise and fall with the water level, so the intake stays at the right depth through the season. [Mining & quarries](https://www.pontoonz.co.nz/mining-quarries/) Wastewater & Water Utilities ## Aerator, monitoring and access pontoons for treatment ponds Aerator pontoons and water-quality monitoring pontoons are both built on Pontoonz pods. The platform carries the equipment and gives operators a stable deck to service it from. Floating solar arrays on treatment ponds, like the one Watercare operates at Rosedale in Auckland, also need safe access for cleaning, inspection and maintenance. Pods can carry service walkways and maintenance platforms for that kind of installation; talk to us about your site. ![Monitoring pontoon with an instrument housing and an operator in hi-vis](https://www.pontoonz.co.nz/_astro/aquaculture-platform.BnpRgVcI_2ifx2P.jpg) Size Your Build ## How many pods does your pump platform need? Each Main Boat Pod carries 150kg at half immersion and up to 350kg fully immersed. A 26-pod platform carries a 6-tonne pump. ### How is the pump mounted? The pump sits on a timber or steel frame bolted to the pods through the moulded tie-off points. Send us the pump model and we'll recommend the layout. ### How is it anchored? With chains or ropes to anchors or shore points, set up so the platform rises and falls with the water. The right setup depends on depth, level change and flow. ### Are the pods UV and chemical resistant? The pods are UV-stabilised marine-grade polyethylene with a 15+ year life. Polyethylene resists most water-treatment chemicals; tell us what's in your pond and we'll confirm. ### What's the lead time? Rotomoulded pods are made to order in Auckland, typically a few weeks. Float Pods ship from stock. No-Obligation Quote ## Tell us about your pump platform Every quote comes with a recommended configuration, volume pricing and freight to your address or nearest port.
