How many pods does your boat need?
Estimates assume half immersion and an even load. Every configuration is checked by Pontoonz before a quote is sent.
Boats built on Pontoonz pods

Do I need boat-building skills?
No. If you can build a deck, you can build a Pontoonz. The pods bolt together using the moulded tie-off points and the deck is drilled and bolted straight on.
What size motor can I use?
Main Boat Pods with Bow or Speed Pods are designed for motorised use. The 8.1m cedar-clad houseboat runs a 9.9hp four-stroke high-thrust outboard. Tell us your hull and load and we'll advise.
How much weight will it carry?
Each Main Boat Pod carries 150kg at half immersion and up to 350kg fully immersed. Use the calculator to size the hull for your people, motor and gear.
How much does it cost?
A 6m twin-hull pontoon boat starts from NZ$5,380 ex GST in pods. Deck, fittings and freight are on top.
Does it need registering?
It depends where you boat. Recreational boats in New Zealand generally don't need registration, but Maritime NZ safety rules apply. In Australia, motorised boats are registered with your state maritime authority.
Why not buy a fibreglass or aluminium pontoon boat?
A finished boat comes at a finished price and a fixed size. Pods give you a hull you can size to the job, add to later and reconfigure, with no antifoul, no fuel in the floats and a 15+ year life.
